Lutomiersk is a vlllage (1274-1870 a town), located about 10 kilometres west of Lodz. During it's history, it had even a castle (15th century), rebuilt and converted afterwards into a monastery (17th century). The textile boom (19 century) that changed Łódź into a "promised land", a dynamic, steaming, hissing beast, bypassed the peaceful village - outside Lodz the factories were built for example in Aleksandrów and Konstantynów. During the occupation the nazis formed a ghetto in Lutomiersk (renamed to Nehrtal - literally Nervalley). It's inhabitants were soon murdered in the nearby concentration camp in Chełmno nad Nerem.
One of the most known tourist attraction is... the suburban tram service (since 1929) no. 43, which departs Łódź and reaches Lutomiersk in around 1 hour. The last few hundred meters run through fields and a bridge over Ner river.
Some of the photographs were made in the nearby Kazimierz (3km).
